2022 Oak Tree Race

This year’s Oak Tree Race winners are, in the half marathon, Humberto Wallace Jr (Rochester) in 1:14:56 and Lindsay Piraino (Rush) in 1:25:34.  In the Oak Tree 5k, Simon Aguilar (Geneseo) won in 16:35 and Catherine Staley (Geneseo) won in 20:36. 

Half Marathon

In the Oak Tree Half Marathon there were 206 finishers, up from 190 last year.  The overall and male Oak Tree Champion was first timer Humberto Wallace Jr of Rochester in a time of 1:14:56 to capture his first Oak Tree victory. Wallace Jr bested Aaron Nobles (Rochester) by 1 minute and 54 seconds. Coming in third this year was defending champion Paul Suflita (Rochester) in a time of 1:18:55.

On the female side, Lindsay Piraino of Rochester defended her 2022 victory with her second Oak Tree Half Marathon victory in 1:25:34, taking 8 seconds off of last year’s time.  In second place, for the second year, Erin Gibbons (Rochester) in 1:31:55 who took 39 seconds off of her 2022 time. In third place, Shawnessy Dusseau (San Francisco) finished with a 1:41:21.

Half Age Group

In a warm and sunny race, just one age group record was set in the Oak Tree Half. Aaron Nobles (Rochester) cut 1:06 from the 35-39 male course record to set 1:16:50 as the new time. Nobles bested Derrick Jones time of 1:17:56 that has stood until 2007.

Oak Tree 5K

There were 254 finishers in the Oak Tree 5K, up from 208 last year.  Simon Aguilar of Geneseo captured the win with a 16:35, finishing one minute ahead of second place Dave Herbert (Rochester) who finished in 17:35, and Josh Harter (Avon) capturing third place just second seconds behind Herbert with a 17:42. Aguilar improved upon his 2022 Oak Tree where he captured third place with a time of 19:31.

On the women’s side, Catherine Staley of Geneseo, a familiar name to Oak Tree runners, captured a record sixth Oak Tree 5K with her 20:36, defending her 2022 time and dropping 10 seconds this year. Emily Lamb (Geneseo) finished second in 21:16 and Samantha Walker (Dansville) finished third in 21:47.

5k Age Group

For the first time in three years, there was a new age group course record set, as Josh Harter (Avon) ran a 17:42 to set a new record for the male 45-49 as he broke David Daniels 2005 record for that class by 44 seconds.
